The primary way to qualify is to be Tuscarora by biological lineal descent and either belong to a Tuscarora community or be closely connected.

What will the reaffirmation of state recognition bring to the community?
Benefits include program funding, Indian/Minority Affairs membership and the historical significance of reaffirmation. Additionally, the North Carolina Division of the American Indian Affairs (DOA) offers a number of programs for members residing in NC to participate. State tribe members can also access health care services through Partners Health Management.
